We had a nice, long break and a great time together so I thought I'd post a few pictures of our family during Christmas.
Mom says if you do something once or twice, or only a few times the kids think you did it all the time. Well, I was certain when we were growing up that we went out to dinner on Christmas Eve for Michelle's birthday all the time, but now that I'm thinking about it maybe it was only once or twice, or a few times that we actually did. I think the tradition continued after I was grown and gone which is probably why it only seems like it happened a few times.
Well, no matter. It was such a wonderful tradition, no matter how many times it actually happened, that our family has gone out to dinner on Christmas Eve for several years. This year we went to The Macaroni Grill because we love the atmosphere and the Italian music. It seemed so strange not to have Jacob and his new wife, Mishelle with us, but we were happy to have Jordan and Angela with us since they will be married this year, as well. We also had Holly and Vaughan with us visiting from St. George and Mallory was home with us from school. The Littles were happy to have both of their big sisters together during their vacation, and Mike and I were happy to be with our kids. I was also happy not to do dishes.

I love all your pictures. Everyone looks so good! I miss Annie and Erin. I feel like I haven't seen them in forever. I had such a great time watching them. I also had to tell you that I got an iPad too. I love it. Its wonderful. Can't wait to see you guys soon. Tell the littles hi from me.
Well, it's about time! You set a standard of posting almost everyday and I got hooked. I missed you. =D
I love all of your picutres. Everyone looks so happy to be together. And I love the tradition of going out to eat on Christmas Eve. I only remember eating at home on Christmas Eve a handful of times and I think most of those times I was an adult. I agree with you, it is a wonderful tradition. After trying to cook a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner for my family a few years ago, I vowed never to do it again. I didn't love being in the kitchen all by myself while my children played all by themselves. It's a much happier, family, day if we go out to eat.
Anyway, I love the pictures. And now I'm wondering if the book club blog shou ld be called, "apartment 3B" =D Someone needs to come up with a clever name and I seem to be stuck on "I Love Lucy"
Court,
That was faaassssttttt!
How are you? I miss you, and my kids miss you.
You turned my children into cat and dog and animal lovers. We have a new dog and it's their new baby.
Erin calls her her baby and she says she's her Mama!
Now I know what you were trying to tell me about with your cat. It is hilarious.
How on earth did she go from terror to love?
I haven't even talked to you since Israel, but I have hardly talked to your mother, as well.
We need to do SOMETHING. Anything, even El Taco!
I'm so glad you got an Ipad. It's such a great toy for an adult. That's how I feel about it. It's my own toy and I am so happy to have it.
All right, let's plan something sooooon. We miss you.
I'm So happy for your girls with their new baby. My dogs and kitty are my babies too. I'm glad they now love animals as much as I do. :) . Do your girls have school Monday? My mom is coming out to hang out that morning. You should come too. I think we are doing a park day. Either way it would be great just to hang out. Maybe I can even bring some el taco. :).
Oh, everyone's reading along so quickly. I love it. And yes, this is the year to post, write and show pictures. It's a miracle!
"These are modern times, there aint' supose to be any miracles."
Catte, I agree who wants to be in the kitchen cleaning and cooking and cleaning on Christmas Eve when you have to do it all over again on Christmas Day? There's so much to do anyway that it's nice to go out to dinner with eveyone instead. I love our tradition, which was really Mom's tradition in honor of Michelle. Next year I'm singing Happy Birthday to Michelle in Italian!
As for our book club, I'm excited for it to begin.
Thank you for being our Book Club Manager.
Want to hear what our old book club was called?
It was called The Best Book Club in the Whole Wide World!
Or something like that. It was that or The Really Better Book Club. Anyway, it was everyone's favorite and especially mine. Julie Connolly's tag line was " It's more Club than Book", but that was what made it so fun.
Anyway, so glad we are starting a new one.
As for the name, I'm afraid I'm thinking about serious names. See, I'm no fun.
The first name that came to mind was, The Literary Firm. Do you know what that's from?
I'll give anyone a dollar if they know.
But I love Apt. 3-B and The Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League.
Court,
I'm in. Monday's perfect.
I will see you then and yes, please bring El Taco.
See you sooooooooooooooooon.
Your family is so beautiful. Such fun pictures! Now, let's see a picture of your dog. I can't believe you really did it! What kind of dog?
Oh, and can I plese come meet up for El Taco on Monday? I wish! Hi Courtney...I haven't seen you milling around on the blog circuit before. Please join book club. I don't have any cute name suggestions, but my first thought was of the old Renouf Roundup Reunions we used to have. We could play off of that and call it the Reading Roundup? I will try to think of something more clever. My mom is a whiz at thinking of cheesy, creative stuff like that. Maybe we could rope her in...ha,ha...rope her in...I didn't realize that was another play on the old roundup theme. Anyhow, I don't care what it's called. I am just excited to jump in and play.
Julie,
You are so nice.
The dog is coming. I promise.
And yes, please could you come on Monday and have El Taco? I wish you could. I wish we could all get together with everyone and have fun.
I wish I could have been with my sisters when you came to see us. I know you would have had more fun if they had been there too.
I can't wait for The Renouf RoundUp Reading Club.
Yes, let's definitely rope in your mom. I promise not to shoot her in the tongue.
(haha...round up, guns, what I once told her.)
That would be great, and do you know about us? We hate exclusive clubs so anyone who wants to join in can. It's open to all Renouf's, all Renouf friends, anyone who know's a Renouf, loves a Renouf or can't stand a Renouf. How's that? Why not? We're suppose to love our enemies.
Anyway, I'm excited too, but I have to warn everyone right now. I have a hard time putting down my own books to read everyone else's, but I'll try to be a good member of the Renouf Round Up Unexclusive Reading Club.
Love the post and the comments! :)
Post First: I love all of your pictures! Everyone looks so good. I love Mike's hair, and evey woman/girl in your family has beautiful hair. :) Annie is looking so much older. She is starting to remind me of Holly and Mal. I wish Jaycob and Mishelle were there too, but that's exactly how I feel when I see my families group pictures. I always wish I could be there too. As of next year, I am going out to eat on Christmas Eve. It sounds like the perfect tradition to me.
Comments: I am SO excited you guys got a dog. Your girls (especially Erin) were so cute with Courtney's. I can't wait for your Puppy Post.
I NEED El Taco!!! Now that you guys have mentioned it, I am craving it! It's going to be a long wait because my next trip probably won't be until April! *sigh*
Book Club! Woohoo! Very exciting. I like where Julie was going with the name. :)
Katie,
Thanks for all the compliments on the hair.
Hair is so hard and it's so much work, but your compliment makes me want to go back and look at the pictures more closely. Well, we certainly all have a lot of it, anyway.
I like to go out on Christmas Eve since we've all been home together all day. It's an outing for all of us that we look forward to.
Can you believe we got a dog? I think it was because of Courtney. After staying at her house, they came home wanting one.
And yes, I wish you could come to El Taco with us.
I'm hoping Court will pick it up and bring it to the park. April, is a long way away. Do you have a Cafe Rio by you? I wish we had one of those out our way, as well.
And I'm happy to hear everyone's excited and ready for Book Club.
Mmmmmm....Yes, we have a Cafe Río! It's about a five minute drive from me. :) Maybe I'll have that "in honor" of El Taco.
Leslie, is that you? I haven't seen you in quite some time. I found your blog through FACEBOOK but it was a different, weird name. Your children are beautiful! Do they look like their father? Our family tradition (since April 2008), for Christmas Eve dinner has been to hang out behind Denny's and wait to see what's left, good times. I guess you can say we are rich in love. You look like a million bucks!
Talk to you soon,
'2 Bits'
I can't believe that guy is stalking me again,
I haven't been able to shake him since high school.
I think he's confusing me on Facebook with our cousin.
We look quite a bit alike and it's hard to tell us apart.
If he's so rich in love why is he always stalking me?
As for the compliment, you know I can't pass that up.
I guess he's not so bad sometimes. The guy always could make me laugh.
Mary,
I just have one thing to say and I'll send you a dollar if you know it.
"Compassion. I just have too much compassion."
Laugh, please.
