Remember how in Meet Me In St Louis Tootie says she's so lucky to be born in her favorite city. Well, that's how I feel about Fall. "Aren't we so lucky to be born in our favorite season?" Isn't it amazing and almost ridiculous that half of all the siblings were born in November, and that Heidi and Catherine landed on the moon on the exact same day. haha
Actually I don't think Mom and Dad could have planned it better if they tried, and I love being clumped together with everyone. Did everyone know Mary Kate's been officially included in the November line up? I tell her Happy Birthday on November 5th, too. It's one of my favorite days, because it has a five in it, but the best part about it is if you don't get a present mailed out to Mary in September you can make it up to her in November.
(Look Mary, it's a sign that "It's Time". You were born on the 5th and it's time for the fifth. And you're the tenth child which is a multiple of a fifth. And here's some for me. I was born on the eighth, am the oldest of eight, and thought I would have eight. Look at all these signs. And we were all baptized when we were eight.)
There's something that happens to me when I sit down to write that makes me want to be ridiculous. I know it's foolishness but I can't seem to stop myself. It's easy for me.
Well, I love The Fall and know everyone else does, too. The sky is blue-er and the leaves are better. It's brisk and breezy, but the sun is still shining away. I've already jumped the gun, and set out all the pumpkins on my porch, watched The Great Pumpkin, ordered Arsenic and Old Lace, and set out every Fall and Thanksgiving book I can find. Williams Sonoma has a great Thanksgiving book, and so does Susan Branch. It's called Autumn. My kids have noticed the change in the weather, and Mallory said she's excited for Thanksgiving. (She loves it.....like Erin. This reminds me of Erin. Original Erin.)
Roy and I are planning to take the kids to Irvine Regional Park for their Pumpkin Patch and train rides. We're making Laurie and her kids come along because everything is funner and funnier when Laurie comes, too. I have a request that everyone share what they are planning and doing for the upcoming months, so we can do it, too.
Anyway, Everyone, it's Really and Truly Official. The Holidays are upon us, and Fall is here. I can feel it in the air. Like love.

Oh we are so lucky to be born in our favorite season. I'm so glad you posted about Fall today. I love Fall. Irvine Regional Park sounds like so much fun. I love your idea of everyone sharing what they are doing for Fall so we can all do it. Today we are having Potato Cheese Soup and Apple Pie for dinner, to welcome in the Fall. This Friday (or maybe sooner) we will be celebrating Johnny Appleseed's birthday. And on Saturday we're going apple picking.
Adam really should have said "it's time" quieter. I mean he could have at least whispered it. I'm pretty sure you would have not heard it.
I love to be included with the many, and I mean, many Fall Birthdays. I told you I always considered myself a Fall Birthday. A wonderful Fall Birthday with summer’s best of weather. But please by all means call me again on my new and improved later birthday, November 5. I'm not going to be very pleasant to be around if Adam doesn't get me another birthday present though!
That is too funny about all the number obsessions. Where do you come up with this stuff? Can I tell you my new obsession?
My keyboard is missing the "h" key. You have to press it really hard and sometimes nothing gets typed and other times a whole line of h's gets typed. So now when I think about writing or even speaking, it all revolves around whether it the words have an h in them! It’s s really annoying! It's like when you take typing class and your thoughts are being typed in your head. Did that ever happen to you? It did to me and I hated it!
I'm so happy you have not given up on blogging. In fact you seem more motivated than ever. I love it!
Oh, Mary How Horrible not to have the "h" key. How can you type the words Hephalumps and Hamburgers? And what about Heliotrope and Honolulu? You poor little h-less thing.
And Poor Adam! I am relentless. I just can't pass up that quote. It's come up so often.
You are absolutely right he should have whispered. He could have yelled it in my right ear and I would have smiled and nodded, or not even noticed. He must have been facing left.
Did you know I love to type in my head? It's a great thing to do when the conversation is boring. Just start mentally typing....or counting, whichever is easiest. It all started in church. I didn't mean it irreverently, but it really started during Sacrament prayers. I think it was from the repetition. Anyway, it occupies my mind, and of course, I enjoy it.
Yes, I seem to be on a roll with my blogging. If nobody cares I don't have pictures then I'll just keep going.
"My dear child, there are a great many blogs without pictures."
I wish they had a song symbol key...just a little treble clef to type up..."cats and rabbits would reside in fancy little houses, and be dressed in shoes, and hats and trousers..."
I was just thinking about Alice.
Well, Miss Mary, A Very Merry Autumn Unbirthday to you.
Catte,
Be sure and tell me what you are doing before you do it. "Spontaneity is a great thing so it's good to plan for it." I want to know what everyone is doing weeks before the actual holiday celebrating comes, so I can get everything I need to do it too.
I always love to hear about the games. The Cinderella games were my favorite, and you know I loved the Olympic Platform.
Maybe you could build a Thanksgiving Platform and your childen can model their pilgrim costumes, Indian Headdresses, and Turkey Feathers. I can't wait to see the pictures!
Leslie,
It was supposed to go without saying that “table talk” is not to be repeated, transmitted, or posted on blogs without my express written consent.
I don’t even remember saying that, but apparently I did. I am sure it did not sound as bad in the moment…right (humor me)? :)
Adam
Yes, aren't we lucky and living charmed lives and eveyone wants to be us?:)
I do love the fall. I remember loving it in CA but then my in Provo, I felt like I was coming alive and I wanted to bake and sew and pick an apple and climb a mountain and brew my own cider and marry Ichabod Crane. (Maybe I did-at least we used to call him that in the MTC because he was so greedy for sweets.)
Anyway, what fun to do fall activities with Laurie and her group. Laurie is the Queen of Fun, that is for certain. Even West said he misses Laurie and wishes she would come for a visit but he forbid me to tell her since he was higly embarassed. So I'll tell you instead. I can't wait for Europe in November. I can't wait. I'm trapped under a heavyload of work until then. Send food and money fast. I'm so glad you have a blog so I can at least send you a message early in the morning and late at night. Shane took the day off today so that we could go leaf peeping in the mountains. We saw gorgeous yellow aspen trees and had such a lovely time. Shane was in Denver all weekend for his doctorate and he didn't get home till 1 AM and we had to go pick him up from the shuttle service. I've been dragging all day. It's one thing to lay in bed awake till 1 AM but another thing to go out at that hour. I didn't mean to complain, only mean to say that was why he took a day off and we had such a lovely first day of fall. I'm getting carpal tunnel so I have to go.
Dear Adam,
I'm sorry to quote you so often, but how can I not?
It was the best line I've ever heard from a husband.
We all think more of you for it.
I suppose I really should stop repeating it, but I'm a repetitive girl. I love repetition and thrive on it.
I think you said it in a perfect pause kind of a moment.
Or maybe it was the surprise of it that silenced Mary and I both out of conversation.
Anway, we heard you Adam. We both did.
And thought it was the nicest, kindest, most husbandly, fatherly thing you could have ever said, and I won't tease you publicly or privately in my blog ever again.......that is until you say, I can, or
"It's Time."
hahhahahahahahokok....soorryyyyyy ADAM. I just can't help myself sometimes.
I guess I am missing the story about Adam, but whatever it is- it sounds funny! : )
Mary, I feel for you missing your letter H, but you should know it could be worse! LOL I am missing my Y, V, and 2. What a bummer. One day Brooklynne was being very quiet, and then I realized why! She was picking the letters (and #'s) off our keyboard! Naughty baby!
Anyway, I love the Fall too! It is getting crisp and cool here in Vegas already! I am not sure exactly what we are going to do to celebrate yet...I guess I am the kinda' person who likes to fly by the seat of my pants.
We are definitly going to Disneyland on Ocotber 16th...Anyone in California is welcome to join my sisters and me! We are also going up to a wonderful pumpkin patch near Grandma's and Grandpa's. It is at Staley Farms. : )
Oh, Poor Katie.
You're worse off than Mary without a Y V and a 2.
Don't you just know the kids are up to something when it gets so quiet.
Count us in for the 16th. My kids are dying to go to Disneyland, and keep asking me to go on Friday.
I'll tell them the 16th so they can have something to look forward to.
We are planning to drive in tomorrow and see The Roadshow that has been consuming your Mother's and Courtney's life for the last six months.
It'll be fun, and of course, we have to go to El Taco, too.
All right, Katie, I'm so glad you're part of the comment club. Guard that keyboard from Brooklynne so you can keep commenting.
Dear Leslie,
You lasted all of 30 seconds without using the now infamous "it's time" quote that will follow me forever.
I was laughing out loud when I read your comment. I give you permission to use it since we are getting tons of laughs out of it (and not to mention that you had very nice things to say, thanks).
I'm not sure that I can keep pace with all your creative and hilarious comments. I now see what MK has been talking about.
Leslie,
I love the commentary that is going on between you and Adam. Hilarious!!! We are going to have so much fun saying, "It's time" all over Europe!!!
Thankyou so much for the wonderful reading list that you left on my blog! I can't wait to get crackin' on it. One time I told Annabelle to get crackin' on something and she told me, "I can't get crackin' I'm a girl, not an egg!" Anyway, I"m going to the library tommorow and I'm going to take my reading list with me! I can't wait to read all those books, they really do sound like books that I would love!
Man...I'm always a day late and dollar short on these blogs....these darn kids, why don't they watch the movies I give them!?!? haha
Anyway, I just barely finished my FALL debut post and then I see that you already did one....i blew it.
anyway...yes I love the fall and I'm so glad to have my day in it....do non-fallers love the fall too???
alright sorry i'm so late. h
ps...i'm supposed to be coming for a disney/mikey working trip on october 20th.....You MUST come! and bring rosas with you :)
get your fake excuses ready for school and come to disneyland with us.
Heidi, I just left you a comment on your blog before reading your comments on my blog.
I laughed because our blogs were the same. We wrote about almost all the same things.
That's how it is when you're raised by Barbara Renouf.
I love that we all love and have Mom's hobbies. She was so nice to share everything she loves with us.
Yes,,, we are in for Disneyland on the 20th. If you're here on the 16th let's go then, too because that's when Laurie's group is going.
I can't wait. I am so glad you're coming.
We'll have to do lunch at the Cheescake Factory, too.
Are you staying with me? You should. We can have a Slumber Party every night.
Dear Father Abraham, I mean Adam.
Dear Father Adam, or should I just say,
Dear "Father Time," instead.
Oh, you poor, poor man, I just cannot give up the joke can I?
It really has gone on and on. It's been three months, now. But, yes we really have gotten a lot of laughs out of it, and now I just read that they're planning to tease you in Europe about it, too.
It really has become a Timeless Tale.
Do you know the song about Father Abraham?
Let me sing it for you. It goes like this:
"Father Abraham, had many sons..........and his sons had Father Abraham."
Also, I think I have thought of the perfect name for your next child. Are you ready?
Here it is. How about......Timely. Timely Telles!
