This Is What The Littles Got For Christmas

Here she is. Here is The Littles new dog.
They wanted one so much that we gave in and let them have one. Doesn't she look like Girlie? I wanted to call her Little Girl or Little Bit because she looks like her, but no one let me. Isn't that how it is when you're the mom? (Oh, mother your ideas are so dumb.) Everyone calls her Sox. Yes, as in the Red Sox. All Mike's doing.
I usually just call her, Puppy, as in "Oh, Puppy don't jump on me." Mike has called me Barbara Renouf many times since the dog has moved in because every time she jumps on me I say, "Ohhhhh, well, yes, hello, how are you." He says it reminds him of Mom and it sounds like I've been startled or interrupted and I'm trying to be polite about it. I told him I don't like to be jumped on and I'm certain my mother doesn't either. Well, I'm adjusting to having a dog, and The Littles act like she's their new baby sister.

All Mikes doing?! I named the Dog mother not Dad!

Well!
I thought it was your dad. He was the one who said it was SOX-S-O-X as in The White Sox or Red Sox.
Did you tell everyone what you wanted to name her?
Anyway, it's hilarious to me how much The Littles love her, and how Erin Leigh treats her like a baby.
The Littles watch Animal Planet all the time now, and are already planning what their next dog will be.
Annie said Sox needs a friend and has been googling pictures and trying to decide!

PS
Forgive me for not giving credit where credit is due.
You know I hate that.
But S-O-X and the Red Sox was all him.

Awwww.... She is so adorable! Seriously, she is a cute little addition. :) I love your name suggestions, but I like her name Sox too. Very cute.

Your girls sound like me. I am constantly reading up on breeds to see what kind of dog I want next. I really want a small one now, but I'm not sure if I want two dogs at the same time.

Congrats on the new baby! Ü

So funny. They are still watching animal planet huh? They watched it at my house all the time. Erin Leigh was a little frightened at first but I'm glad to know she now loves it! Your little Sox is SO cute. She looks like she fits right into your family. Can't wait to see you guys Monday. I think we might be swimming at Cammys house now since the weather is supposed to be warm! :)

Leslie, I am laughing at your description of your relationship with the dog, and Mike comparing it to your mom. I am so awkward when animals touch me, that I know I would do the same thing. My friend put her cat on my lap and I didn't even know what to do. I just raised my hands in the air and asked her to please move it. That was the moment when Seth and I made eye contact and I knew for sure we were not getting a pet this Christmas.

I will say that I felt the same way about kids before I had my own though. My sisters loved to watch me when kids approached me because I was so awkward and apparently it was hilarious. I am still mildly awkward with other peoples kids and I don't want them on my lap or anything, but I have made huge progress now that I am a mom. So...maybe my own dog would grow on me? Maybe? We are still looking around, but I am still not sure I can do it. Kudos to you for making that sacrifice.

She really is a cute little thing. Will she stay small like that? What kind of dog is she?

Oh, Leslie. You have a strength that is beyond me. I could never ever do it. I do have one question, though . . . where is her bow?

Leslie said...

Catte,
Didn't you hear about Annie Laurie's plea?
She told me that she is 12 but she looks like she's 14 and her childhood is almost over and she really wanted a dog.
That did it. Whenever I see childhood on the brink of ending I have to listen to their last plea as a child.
She does need a bow. I thought it myself.
We got her a red collar, which is so us, but it's not feminine and she looks like a boy. I'll have to search through Erin Leigh's old bow collection.
Don't panic about the furniture. It was only because she was new, and Chem-Dry is coming tomorrow to clean all the upholstery. Not because of the dog, though, because of us. Wear and tear and the arms of the couch look shabby. If I can't get new furniture the least I can do is have it cleaned. Dog or no dog.

Katie,
What are you hoping for next?
Annie wants a Shiba inu!

Court,
Look what you've down. Now we're a dog owner and my kids are animal planet viewers! Well you've definitely exposed them to animal culture and they love your for it. Can't wait to see you and laugh my head off with you and your mom on Monday.

Julie,
I'm laughing that you're awkward animals. I am the worst. All the people I visit teach have a serious number of pets, and they laugh at me all the time with them. They make me so nervous and so does our own dog. She scares me all the time. I will be working at the computer and the next thing I know she's right next to me. That's when I panic a little and say, hello, yes, how are you. I have such bad hearing I don't hear her coming toward me. I don't hear anyone coming toward me either!
I would have never thought you were awkward with children. I thought you were so good with your own and with Valerie's. I would have never guessed.
We have had two other dogs for a short time. One, I am sad to say died and the other ran away. I have never wanted the responsibility of a dog, but once we have them I don't mind and I always end up softhearted about them and end up sharing whatever I have with them. Everyone knows I would always buy Girlie a taco and make her scrambled eggs.
See. It's always me home with the dog end up treating them like my child.
Anyway, she won't grow very much. She is little, and part German shepherd, and they think part Collie.
We adopted her from a shelter, which was actually really nice. It was a brand new shelter, and they are so happy you're giving a home to a pet that they provided all kinds of things for her.
So far though she's eaten 2 pairs of shoes, and sadly ruined a lounge chair in the backyard.
Oh well. I don't blame you one bit for holding out.
I only did it because Annie is getting old!

For those of you who are wondering. Sox is a rescue dog. Her birthday is September 16th which makes her a Virgo. She loves walks in the park and toys to chew on, especially Scneebs' ears. We were told that she is a German Shepherd / Collie mix and will only get to be about 25 pounds and not much bigger than she is now. We love her and enjoy playing with her.
P.S. Does Leslie get paid for every comment she makes... ON HER OWN BLOG?
Just wondering.

Cujo

And he's back again!
If I had it my way I'd get paid a dollar a word straight out of your own pocket.
Commentary is my specialty. Don't forget I had an opinion column and you of all people should know I have an opinion about everything!

I'm laughing at all of this. I can't stay and chat but I can picture this relationship with your dog so clearly. I love that you would give Girlie a taco and make her an egg! Any creature that comes to your house will always be properly taken care of. Do you leave crumbs out because you feel sorry for the mice that might be in the area? You're such a sympathetic soul. I love it!

Katie and Mark - if you are looking for a small dog, you should really check out a "Havanese", My parents are considering getting one to add to our pack. Wonderful dogs. Also lhasa apso are pretty great. go to animal planets website and you can watch a 4 minute video on the breeds. It's under the dogs 101, just type in "havanese"

Oh no! There's a dog on your couch! Well, I'll say the same thing that I say to everyone who gets a pet. It's been nice knowin' ya.
PS All right, he's cute. But that's the extent of my animal affection. I would enjoy him lots. Behind glass. In a zoo. In a picture. Or on an Aminal Planet video. But on your couch? It was nice knowin' ya.

Leslie said...

Hahahahaha.
I feel the same way.
I even had our couches and chairs cleaned yesterday, and I knew everyone would hate that she was on our couch, but it was the cutest picture.
She is hilarious and loves The Littles.
She lets them carry her like a baby!
Now all we need is to borrow a pet outfit from Mary to dress her in.
